The chess pieces have this charming woodland detail that makes the board feel like a tiny scene, and they fit snugly in the tray when stored. My kids actually ask to play checkers now, which never happened with our old flat set.
Putting together the little forest pieces was oddly relaxing, and I've got both chess and checkers on the same board now. The tiny trees make me smile every time we set up a game.
The forest theme on the board is gorgeous, and the pieces feel solid in hand. My kids and I played checkers three nights in a row. Assembly took a bit, but it was worth it.
